"i have nothing to say and i am saying it and that is poetry as i need it." --j.cage
i have lately begun to think again about metronome time- and how useful it can be inside and outside of various (musical) contexts.
despite any evidence to the contrary, humans are not machines; accordingly, the sounds some humans may listen carefully to for various reasons (this is "music") also should not be made for machines. so a mechanical tempo is not as fitting for humans as a human controlled tempo (which means changes (irregularities)).

as a final thought, let me say that a "steady" tempo can be a good thing- i like to dance as much as the next being. but a steady tempo can be a human tempo too: and not simply a mechanical function.

reading my food diary
thinking it could be poetic
listening to ambient sounds
thinking they could be musical
looking out my window at the moiré patterns on the wet screen
thinking they could be artistic
