Cowardly behavior: blob runs from a predator leaving others to die

Altruistic behavior: blob distracts predator, dies, but remainder of family escapes

Altrustic behavior tends to dominate a population

Haploid: when a creature has a single genetic strain. children receive a copy from a random parent.

Diploid: when a creature has two genetic strains. both halves are randomly selected from a parent, allowing possible hybridization.
