A social trope where the ultimate outcome of a process is banned and justification is backfilled to enforce the ban.
For example if it is declared by fiat the sun is green:
- Suggesting the sun is actually white is a personal anecdote and not scientific consensus
- This may even include telling you that your perception is just biased and you can't trust your senses
- Performing a study which proves the sun is white is the result of a kook, not peer reviewed, etc
- Suggesting peer review rejected the study out of bias and not merit is a "conspiracy theory"
Or if a platform is hosting radio shows by someone targeted for damnation memoraie:
- The plaform (ex. patreon) has to go or the un-person does (ex. sargon)
- If the person goes to a new platform (ex. subscribestar) where they have never done any of the "bad behaviors," the new platform is immediately pressured to cancel them.
If a platform is competing with censorship:
- The new platform's apps are removed because "they are being used for hate speech," even though other apps "could" be used for the same, or even if the application does not belong to a single instance (ex. the email client itself is blamed because it enables you to use email servers not owned by Google.)
