This is exactly what, frankly, pisses me off about anyone cheering the collapse of our systems at the hands of looting/pillaging dunderheads like Trump and Musk.
The size of our population demands some level of cooperation and effort from the majority of us. Either by working together directly, or at least agreeing to be civil enough not to lose our marbles and murder someone because their driving is bad or they flipped you off.
I get the escapist fantasy of just running off to the piney woods and living off the land but that's not remotely realistic.
You (universal you, I mean) know who will be out there also trying to escape to live off the land? Millions of other people. The millions of other people you're currently relying on to play nice and go to work so the lights stay on and the water keeps flowing and the food doesn't rot in the shelves in the grocery store.
I don't suffer from "main character syndrome" and know me/mine dying horribly can happen.
