@futurebird For dark sky work, I can't think of an advantage to putting a telescope on the far side of the moon that isn't beaten by having one at the L2 lagrange point, so the earth is always between it and the Sun, like JWST. Except, well, L2 is furhter away. 1.5 million km. But you don't need land it on anything. On the other hand - there's a lot about telescopes I don't know.
