@futurebird I think it would be a bit like operating a remote telescope on Earth, except that there's no atmosphere in the way, you'd use it in a 2 week on/2 week off pattern and obviously it would be much harder to maintain and build (though at least possible to maintain unlike space-based telescopes).
It would probably be better for infrared and radio observations than Earth-based telescopes, but not as good in the IR as space-based telescopes as you can't cryogenically cool the moon.
