Raspberry Pi launched the Pi 500 today, a keyboard that's actually a computer. It's $90 with 8GB of RAM and an included 32GB A2 microSD cardβbut no M.2 slot! They also released a new monitor, and if you want to learn EVERYTHING #Pi500, check out today's video: youtube.com/watch?v=5YfJWYELA3β¦

@geerlingguy Is this potentially compatible with your eGPU setup from earlier this year? I don't see the FFC port in your teardown so I'm guessing it isn't.
@geerlingguy
Thanks for this video, very interesting!
That soldering job tho... π€£
Good thing it didn't have the powering component installed or I'm almost sure that would kill it.
@geerlingguy Since the release of the raspberry pi 500 is being shared everywhere, now is a good time to mention that in 2022, raspberry pi hired an ex-cop with a background in surveillance [β¦]

@geerlingguy - slowly making my way to the kicad + PCBway approach....

@geerlingguy Great video. I wonder if it's possible to inject 3.3v using a power supply to test the NVMe port rather than figuring out the whole power supply circuit itself?
@geerlingguy the ability to use storage that's "not slow as mud" is a pretty basic requirement for computers nowadays.
I think I'll pass on adding this to my drawer full of all the other Rpi [β¦]
@geerlingguy I bought its predecessor, the Pi400. Given that the 500 has the same micro|mini HDMI ports, I wouldn't choose to go near this form factor again.
Anchoring the video ports rigidly [β¦]

@geerlingguy That's a shame, I was just looking at Orange Pi and they have SBCs with the Raspberry Pi form factor but a full 2280 M2 slot beneath, also with 16 GB LPDDR5. A bit more expensive [β¦]
@geerlingguy An 8 gb Pi 5 with only SD card storage is an impedance mismatch IMHO
