There is a shortage of materials to build telescopes out of on the Moon.
As well as heat cycling and dust messing up hardware.
Proposals for resolved exoplanet imaging tend to involve either arrays of formation-flying space telescopes forming interferometers (which have complicated artifacts) or flying a telescope out far enough to use the entire Sun as a gravitational lens to magnify the image (which only works for one exoplanet system at a time).
