@futurebird @VaylLarkinPoet These seem like insightful thoughts. I think, right now, that Twitter had something the fediverse never will: it was (more or less) the only game in town. It became dominant very quickly. It was the default for the service it provided. Everyone went there because there was not really anywhere else to go. The fediverse, by contrast, is currently a niche, and will never be the zero-competition default.
I don't know the answers, but those facts make me think that fedi's answer to increasing diversity can't take much from Twitter's success in that department.
