@futurebird technically speaking, Rudolph and his confreres there are some kind of weird reindeer/red deer hybrid if fur colour and antler morphology are anything to go by. Once you know what kind of antlers go with what deer species, you notice that *very* few Christmas “reindeer” we see are, in fact, reindeer.
Most often, they seem to be either red deer or white-tailed deer based on antlers, or fallow or sika deer based on fur.
