Way Monastery museums

Day 1 of 2 at the Way monastery was restful for the most part. We got up and had a nice breakfast and managed to get to the very end of Liturgy this morning. Afterward, we visited the museums within the monastery grounds. One was about the local ruler, now canonized as a saint, and how he defended the country and built monasteries for each of his military victories against the Turks. The other museum was commemorating the 150th anniversary of the idea of a unified country, as well as a huge congress on unity that took place at the monastery in the 1800s. I liked the local ruler’s museum, which had a lot of interesting burial shrouds and manuscripts written with still-legible Cyrillic text. Nia gvidanto interrupted and spoke for me only twice, although one of those times was when I was reading some text from a shroud and the monk showing us around asked if I could read Slavonic.

Mia fratino kaj mi scias iom pri historion de tio lando, sed iam ajn ni montras scion, nia gvidanto interrompos. Tio okazis dum la tuta vojaĝo, sed vi scias.

The afternoon

Lunch was excellent — a soup with pork and egg noodles and a main course of more pork in a paprika sauce with mashed potatoes. After lunch we rested. I read my book a little.

Dinner was good too, it was schnitzel with corneal polenta.

After dinner we went to church for a long while. The service was actually three services one after another. We accidentally left a little early, but that’s ok I think.
