Hey!
One final week and then I'm done working at that awful community center!
I gave the kids a Toki Pona language puzzle today. They had some fun with it, though some kids just used the paper for drawing. I kept it simple, giving them a small set of words and example sentences they had to translate. Stuff like
akesi lili li pona
sina pona
soweli li suli
&c. &c.
Instead of writing it out in Latin characters, I used the linja pona font for sitelen pona so that they wouldn't get tripped up on spelling.

It was remarkable watching them work through the sentences, filling in the blanks and having a good time using words. A lot of them were interested after the others started doing it. I made sure to use the joke word
kijetesantakalu
too.
I'm going to go eat Russian food with the choir director from the church I go to and his brother, which will be fun. Hopefully they have fish.
(edit: they had excellent fish)
