It should be compatible (or possible to make it compatible) with ATARI's OS and DOS. It should have an assembler/machine code escape/call facility, or be readily extendable, so that the ATARI graphics features can be used. It should be able to generate reasonably efficient code (e.g. such code should run at least 4 to 5 times as fast as interpreted BASIC). In case you're wondering, the ATARI 800 is a 6502-based microcomputer. I would also appreciate any information on compatible monitors, text editors, etc. Is there anyone else out there with an ATARI 400/800 who might be interested in trading/sharing software, etc.?
