I am giving all times in Eastern Daylight Time, i.e. 4 hours behind GMT; all frequencies are in kilohertz. Credit goes, variously, to Radio Netherlands Media Network, and to Glenn Hauser's reports on Radio Canada International and on WRNO, New Orleans, et. al. I am not giving frequencies for the 24 hour/day BBC World Service since they should be reasonably well known to most listeners. (1) BBC Calling the Falklands--Special BBC broadcasts to the Falklands Islands. World news, Falklands news, messages from government officials, and messages from friends and relatives. Corny 5:20 P.M. to 6 P.M. EDT (i.e. 2120 GMT), now 7 days/week. 15400 kHz, 11820 kHz via Ascension Island BBC relay Feeder frequency from the U.K. to Ascension is 19455 USB (2) Radio Argentina al Exterior--news/commentary in English with a march played about every 5 minutes. Bombastic, and probably true less frequently than the BBC.(which quotes communiques from both sides but gives more prominence to the British communiques) 9:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. EDT (i.e. 0100 GMT) on 11710 kHz (3) "Argentine Annie" (so called by the British press). The lady, with a sultry voice, calls herself Liberty, and is modelled after Tokyo Rose. Strong signal but distorted.(in every sense of the word) Her theme song is the Beatles ballad, "Yesterday". 6 P.M. to about 6:45 P.M. EDT (2200 GMT) 8 P.M. to about 8:30 P.M. EDT (0000 GMT) 17740 kHz (Also reported around 3 P.M. EDT on 25680 kHz) Of course, those who can follow Spanish have a wider choice, including BBC in Spanish, RAE in Spanish, Radio Rivadavia relays via RAE, and other Latin American stations. In addition, TV news from Mexico City is broadcast in many U.S. cities.
