Atekmdp.109 NET.general utzoo!duke!chico!teklabs!tekmdp!stevenm Wed Jun 3 13:02:11 1981 Tekmdp Joins The Net ** 'Tekmdp' proudly announces that it has joined the Usenet NewsNet.** We are 'tekmdp', reachable via 'duke!chico!teklabs!tekmdp'. The system is operated by the Tektronix Microprocessor Development Products Group, a portion of the Design Automation Divisoin. We are located outside of Beaverton, Oregon, near Portland. Our machine consists of an 11/70 with 1.3 Mb of main memory, two RP06 disk drives, two mag tape drives, and other peripherals. We are running V7 UNIX, as modified by UC Berkely and ourselves. Our system typically supports 20 to 45 users doing largely program and documentation development. Within a few weeks our VAX 11/780 will begin operation and join the net, as 'tekmdp!azure'. We do not have auto-dialers, and thus are unable to poll additional sites. 'Teklabs' is our contact with the outside world, although we would consider having other sites poll us. We support a user community of about 200 engineers, technicians, and managers, developing Microprocessor Development Lab products, including a UNIX-based product, the 8560. Portions of our group are involved in Language Software Development, Software Tools, Mainframe Design, Emulator Design, and Operating System Design. Other UNIX sites within Tek (some of which will be joining the net soon) include an 11/70, several 11/44's, two VAX's (with another planned), and a raft of 11/23's. The contact here is myself, Steven McGeady. I can be contacted via: UNIX mail: duke!chico!teklabs!tekmdp!stevenm USPS mail: Steven McGeady Tektronix, Inc. D/S 92-525 P.O.
