It is merely a satellite in itself that finds a target and the detonates, destroying both. Reportedly, it is a multi-warhead device, capable of taking out more than one satellite at a time. It's range is approximately 600 miles, which makes it able to destroy our navigation and reconnaissance satellites, but it can't reach our communications satellites...yet -- the USSR is reportedly building longer range killers and lasers that will easily reach them. In the meantime, we are developing our own satellite killer system, comprising of a cylindrical object which will be fired from an F-15 Eagle and collide with its target, which is to be operational in 2 years. The Pentagon is also developing laser antisatellite and -missile weapons. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
