Several encyclicals are available at american.edu, including _Gaudium
et Spes_, _Lumen Gentium_, _Humanae Vitae_ and _Veritatis Splendor_

      1.  Ftp to ftp.american.edu
      2.  Give "anonymous" as the userid.
      3.  Give your email address as the password.
      4.  Once you're in, type:                cd catholic
      5.  Then, for each file you want, type:  get filename.filetype

These files are also available via e-mail.  Send the message "INDEX
CATHOLIC" to listserv@american.edu for a list of available files.
