NUCLEAR WASTE INTERSTATE COMPACT ACT (Ch. 111«, pars. 230.50 - 230.52) AN ACT relating to interstate compacts and agreements concerning nuclear waste, approved and effective August 20, 1982. Section 230.50 Short title. This Act may be cited as the Nuclear Waste Interstate Compact Act. Section 230.51. Interstate compacts or agreements--Filing--Legislative approval  1. No compact or agreement which relates to the transportation, processing, storage or disposal of nuclear waste or spent nuclear fuel and which is entered into by the Governor or his authorized representative with any agency of the federal government or of another state shall be valid unless: (1) A copy of the proposed compact or agreement, and any management plan or other document proposed in connection with the compact or agreement which names a state to host a nuclear waste or spent nuclear fuel facility, have been filed with the Secretary of State and have been retained by him as a matter of public record for at least 30 days prior to being approved; and (2) The compact or agreement is specifically approved by a law enacted by the General Assembly. Section 230.52. Effective date  2. This Act takes effect upon its becoming a law.
