been getting my new office/studio improved with lighting and workspace. feeling a bit y2k nostalgic lately, and have had a series of dreamcast/n64/psx drum and bass playlists on repeat. got a 13" CRT to play my Dreamcast.
i've been carefully assembling a collection of gear for music making over the past few weeks, trying to be very mindful of falling into the trap of "gear acquisition syndrome". my goal has been to put together a few pieces that will allow me to perform live without a laptop.
i think i've hit the sweet spot for what i'd like to be producing and will be recording my experiments over the coming months.
here's a quick rundown of what i've picked up:
i found an old handmade kalimba that my grandfather gave me as a gift after he went on a trip to south africa, and another smaller one that i picked up in kyoto at a small market in a park. a collection of eight toy bells that are each a separate note of the major scale.
musical things are everywhere!
got an xmpp server set up and i got a membership in ctrl-c.club!
i want to use this space to document the music and musical hardware i am creating to make it.
i'll use the ctrl-c space for stuff that is more dev focused.
