Welcome to my little slice of ctrl-c.club! Please allow me to introduce myself...

I've been interested in computers and programming since I was a kid. I guess not interested enough to start a career with it. I wound up becoming a machinist. Hence the username. I've been working with CNC machines for 16 years now. If you ever want to talk shop or have questions about machining or programming CNC machines, please send an email! With the rise of 3D printing, programmers and hackers and machinists now have a little more in common! I desperately want to buy a 3D printer but I've got no where to keep one in my tiny house! My wife would not approve of an Ender 3 as the centerpiece for our dinner table.

Around 2017 was when I started to learn to program and use Linux. Aside from a little shell scripting, Python is the only language I know. And not even very well at that. Although it's been several years now of consistent practice and research, I don't have a lot of free time. So progress is slow. But I still love it. 😊 I have completed a few projects of minor consequence. I will share them here soon. It's hard to get feedback when you're a newbie so I am always greatly appreciative of anyone willing to critique my code. Aside from programming I find just simply using an maintaining Linux-based systems enjoying and rewarding.

My main interest in programming is automation and how that can be applied to drive continuous improvement in factories; both on the production line and in the office. If that happens to lead to an actual job in tech, that would be cool too. It's almost happened a few times for me.

I have my own capsule at `maquinisto.xyz` and initially I was going to mirror some of that content here. Maybe even move my whole capsule here and get rid of my VPS altogether. But I like to do my political ranting on that gemlog. I think I would like to keep the two separate. Ctrl-c has no policy against politics but I feel that what's going on here is nice and wholesome I'd rather not pollute it with politics. Let's stick to learning about cool stuff like Linux and scripting and being excellent to each other.

That being said, if you're interested in libertarian political opinions, machine tech, manufacturing, and even a few recipes...
