The Books on the Shelf

We borrowed this one from the library. This is a great bedtime book with vivid illustrations in West Coast indigenous style. The illustrations are wonderfully recursive with many nested eyes and faces. I think that this style catches children's attention. We also enjoyed Good Morning World which is done in a similar style.

Some typical lines:

A huge number of artists contributed illustrations: Allan Weir (Haida), Ben Houstie (Bella Bella), Chris Kewistep (Bella Bella), Corey Bulpitt (Haida), Corey W. Moraes (Tsimshian), Darrel Amos (Haida), Doug LaFortune (Coast Salish), Eric Parnell (Haida), Francis Horne Sr.(Coast Salish), James E. Grant (Haisla), Keith Tait (Gitsan), Carrier Maynard Johnny Jr. (Coast Salish / Kwakwaka'wakw), Mike Dangeli (Nisga'a / Tlingit / Tsimshian), Paul Windsor (Haisla / Heiltsuk), Phil Gray (Tsimshian), Richard Hunt (Kwaguilth), Ryan Cranmer (Namgis), Sean Brennan (Haida), Simone Diamond (Coast Salish), T.J. Sgwaayaans Young (Haida), Terry Starr (Tsimshian), and Todd Stephens (Nisga'a)

My bad if I mixed up anyone's relations. The Publisher's website makes it a bit hard to figure them out.
