Compliments of the house

[1] It does seem, however, that United Parcel Service [2] does love us [3]. I received a complimentary copy of O'Reilly's [4] HTTP: The Definitive Guide (HyperText Transfer Protocol: The Definitive Guide) [5] today in the mail!

I learned [6] a few weeks ago that I was mentioned in the book on page 230. I made mention of that on the WWW Robots Mailing List [7] (which I've been on since 1995 or 1996) and the author of the chapter in question, Brian Totty, replied back to me! We exchanged some email and he said he would try to get O'Reilly to send me a complimentary copy.

Which they did.

Woo hoo!

The book itself seems to be well written and does explain some of the more obscure bits of the HypterText Transport Protocol, which will certainly help Mark [8] and I on Mark's webserver [9].
