The Rocket City Curling Club has some of the nicest folks I’ve met in Huntsville. They have members of all skill and fitness levels and truly make the sport accessible to everyone. I love the bonus element of “broomstacking”: they all hang out after the game and socialize.

Keep in mind that with those kits the squeegee they supply is sized to function as both the scoop coater and printing squeegee, and often they supply just enough emulsion for the smaller frame, a smaller light source, etc.

I would recommend you use the kit as instructed for your first go, even with just a simple design, so you can get a feel for the process.

If you “upgrade” to a bigger frame off the bat, you will likely need to invest in a scoop coater, larger squeegee, more emulsion, larger light source, washing out your screen in a tub/outdoors as opposed to a sink, etc.

Your digital file looks like a rose pink for the text in the second print, but it looks like they printed a very very pastel pink. I would think that for what they charged you (especially after you shelled out for two screen sets across the size run) they would color match a bit better.

If it’s just a side business I would stick with the normal ink that Canon recommends. If you print your seps in “rich black” (CMYK 60/40/40/100) it should expose fine.

It sounds like the ink (I’m unfamiliar with DMax) could be clogging your print nozzles.

Also, since you’re just starting out I would encourage you to look into learning how to do halftones yourself so that you don’t need to rely on Accurip as a crutch :)

Hoping I explain this correctly:

Print out all your transparencies; it’s easiest if you have your registration marks aligned to the center of your image (top and bottom marks, not side marks)

Align and tape your first transparency on your first coated screen so that the registration marks are in the exact center of your screen, width-wise, at the height you want the image to be burned.

Put your second screen on TOP of your first screen, so that you are stacking the second screen so that the “shirt side” of the second screen touches the shirt side of the first screen (with the transparency still taped on it). Make sure the screens are as square to each other as possible.

Without moving the screens, look “through” your second screen (still stacked on the first screen) at the transparency (that is still taped to your first screen), and use a sharpie to draw a cross/target/dot on the second screen (you are drawing on the ink side). Mark your second registration point by doing the same thing.

Voila! Take the top screen you just marked off the first screen, flip it, and tape your (second) transparency to the (second) screen by aligning the registration marks on the second transparency to the dots/marks you just made. Repeat for the other screens.

This will get you super close. In order for this to work, you need everything aligned to the center of your screen width-wise as close as possible. Use a T-Square!

Colorplan is great if you’re in the UK. Fantastic colors. You’ll want 270gsm or higher; kinda depends on how much ink you’ll be laying down and if you want them more like a rollable poster or a print that’s supposed to be transported flat.

It’s a bit pricey (about $125), but you can buy a heated nozzle for your garden hose called a Reem HotWave (it’s on Amazon).

It should have plenty of pressure to wash out properly exposed screens. Reclaim might take a little more patience.

If you have a dog that you regularly bathe at your house, he’ll love it, too :)

On the V1000s the micro registration relies on the tension from the springs that lift the press heads. If the registrations are maxed out all the way the springs can sometimes get wonky. If you reset all your heads to the neutral position does that still happen?

Love these! They’re great for when I do live print events and am working “in the elements” with my little vastex and flash.

Keep in mind that for heavier ink deposits, you might want to put the sticker inside the shirt (under your print) to ensure that it’s getting to temp through the entire layer of ink.

If you’re trying to screen print through a mesh screen with detail I would suggest SoftScrub. It is thicker, will act more like ink, and is a little more “friendly” than straight up bleach.

If you have a friend that’s moderately competent in any design software, you could get pretty darn close as a DIY project.

The typeface is “Cooper Black”, and the lettering drops in scale and opacity as it goes down. Should only take a few minutes to knock out.

Then, get it printed online via DTG. It will look fine because it’s a simple design on a light shirt.

The blank you’re looking for is called a “ringer tee” or “ringer shirt”, so I would google “dtg ringer tee” and try to find a POD service that looks reputable with the type of ringer tee you’re looking for.

When you get your shirt in the mail you’ll need to remove the detailing from the sleeves to have it match the movie exactly.

There also seems to be a bunch of pretty convincing knockoffs of this shirt online that would just need the sleeve detailing removed.

I’ve used Alpine White on 50/50 tees before with no problem; I use Monarch inks (low cure line) for triblends and 100% poly tees!

The Pearl White is their workhorse, it’s a basic white — meaning it gets the job done and is the nicest to your wallet, but it might be a little thicker to work with and you might sacrifice hand feel a bit. If the guys you’re talking too say it’ll work for your shop I would trust them.

I like Triangle a lot!

The only caveat I would say is their “Triangle Red” is a very pink-y red.

I’ve used their “Cotton White” and “Alpine White” before with no complaints. Their “Alpine White” is their high opacity white (for printing on darks), so you’ll get a real workout if you’re on a manual.

Nicely done, love Chromaline emulsion!

Coat the ink/squeegee side of your screens last, it’ll create a nice gasket between the screen and your shirt when you print and a nicer surface for your squeegee (this is the same reason why you dry your screens with the substrate side facing down!).

With those size screens you can get away with a shorter scoopcoater and save a couple pennies per screen (and screen longevity) since you don’t “need” emulsion right up to the frame edge— that’s what tape is for!

Yes! That’s the company!

We had the ashes and (beautiful) keepsakes delivered to us. The young man who was making the delivery treated us with immense kindness and respect. They truly understand the weight of their work.

I also want to take the time to add that both Onward Paws and HeavenLee Companion are more than happy to communicate through text for any and all discussions surrounding the passing of a pet, in case you are the type of person that is not good on the phone in times of stress. I truly cannot recommend them enough.
