Was listening to a podcast today about how the Soviets dropped paratroopers over the Dnipro in WW2 in 1943 (??) and it was an absolute catastrophe. 4500 paratroopers rounded up and destroyed. The russians never again tried an airborne operation until a few days ago, which was an absolute catastrophe. Also the last time the US armed an enemy of the Russians (Afghanistan) it ended up toppling the Russian government.
Vlad, I'm a fucking postman and I'm learning historical precedence while putting Domino's leaflets through doors. HOW ARE YOU SO FUCKING BAD AT THIS

NEW: Ukraine's insurgency-in-waiting. I spoke to the deputy commander of a guerrilla movement already training up cadres in central and western Ukraine and conducting operations behind enemy lines in Kharkiv, Kherson and elsewhere.

“We have two training camps, one in central Ukraine, one in western Ukraine,” Anton says. “We teach our fighters how to stop a tank, how to bomb it, how to burn out Russian vehicles. We’ve been instructing people for the last seven days.”
Russians can bomb, but they can't win this war.

Love how the world has quit sending imports and buying his exports, and NOW it's time for "special economic measures" to cut off imports/exports. Good job Vlad. Now on the lookout for the announcement of "special money transfer operations" and Russian withdrawing from SWIFT.

Watching countries and companies from around the world compete to see who can fuck Russia the hardest has been a lovely silver lining on this whole mess.
It really is a world of gamers now. Need to start handing out achievements.

I think the brain drain in Russia is real. Time has worked and is working against them. All their forces are manned by 21 year old conscripts that don't want to be there and overseen by NCO's that are drunk most of the time. Meanwhile, they can't do logistics, can't do combined arms, can't communicate. They will literally have to destroy Ukraine, if they want to "take it."
Sad because they had a small window coming out of the cold war starting in the 90's to really invest in their people, education, skillsets, etc, and yet they chose not to. The Russia you see today is still the Soviet style of the 80's, just with laptops and smartphones (developed elsewhere) and running on software developed elsewhere. They never transitioned into a service producing economy...heck they don't even really manufacture much, they're more of a hub to export materials...for others to manufacture. Time and Demographics have not been in their favor.

If Putin's mental health was questionable at the start of this, it has to be considerably worse now. He's basically spent the last 2 weeks waking up in the morning and being kicked in the dick about 100 times a day by Ukraine and the entire world. I'm not dooming about nuclear war, but we could see some wild decisions coming out of him in the near future.

If this is accurate...it sounds like Poland was afraid of escalation. So the US said, "No problem bro. We'll spray paint the stars and stripes on every one of them so Russia knows who wants all the smoke."

Great deal for all involved. Ukraine is the biggest winner with the West turning them into a formiddable 2022 military on the fly and being able to defend their land. Poland upgrading their fighter fleet and hugely supporting the effort. US fighting a serious proxy fight against a hostile enemy without endangering US lives or interests.
Seriously, I am impressed with how united we have been behind Ukraine

There's a certain irony in the fact that the U.S. is handing out Migs to fight Russia.
