The night before Russia invaded, my cousin in Kyiv sent me a picture of herself at a concert enjoying time with friends. In a matter of 2 weeks her apartment was reduced to rubble and her family fled to Poland. There’s no plan for their lives next and they’ll either have to start over in another country or go back to a pile of ashes that was once their home.
What a cruel and miserable thing to inflict on innocent people who now have to start over in a country they don’t call home where they may never even feel welcomed.
Fuck Putin. Slava Ukraini

Bless you, Poland. You are heroes, too.
All the rest of the countries helping, too, but . . . 885,000 refugees. It's mind-boggling.

I can't vouch for the veracity of this source, but I have seen similar figures on other online sources.
Russian Conscript Monthly Salary - 2000 Rubles ($14 USD at current exchange rates)
Russian Regular Soldier Monthly Salary = 62,000 Rubles ($450 USD at current exchange rates).

That's a whole lot of nothing to ask these guys to invade another country, risk their lives, and kill their fellow Slavs.... for reasons that no one can understand.

I like how the goal of the Russian trolls here is to always go with "Ukraine bad" and never "Russia good." Like always their propaganda relies on the idea that everybody is equally terrible, because Russia's actions here, like they almost always are under Putin, are completely indefensible. There only hope to sway hearts and minds is to say everyone else is bad, because it's impossible to fool anyone that Russia is good.

IAEA confirmed that Russia destroyed Ukraine nuclear science research facility. Given that there is nuclear material on site, this is first time in history where a IAEA protected site came under hostile attack.

Not only the General was killed[1], but they lost all secure communications and called their FSB bosses via local SIM, and the calls were intercepted.

Morgan Stanley Says Russia’s Set for Venezuela-Style Default
“We see a default as the most likely scenario,” Simon Waever, said Morgan Stanley's global head of emerging-market sovereign credit strategy, wrote in a Monday note. “In case of default, it is unlikely to be like a normal one, with Venezuela instead perhaps the most relevant comparison.”

I think the mere threat that things could cook off in Kazakhstan, Georgia or Belarus is whats keeping the rest of Russia's military in check right now. Belarus staging an independence movement even close to what occurred last year would add a mountain of leverage to Ukraine.
