Minhas Brewery and distillery products are primarily made in Monroe, Wisconsin, and primarily sold in Canada. This wasn't an issue until now. With a 25% retaliatory tariff applied to alcohol coming from the US to Canada (Thanks, Trump!), where does this leave Minhas? Their CEO posted this statement on Instagram:

"We love this country and we are very proud of our Canadian beer, spirits, ready to drink cocktails and beverages and wine made at Minhas Brewery, Distillery and Winery.

As a Canadian consumer, it's time to make a conscious choice to buy Canadian products."

To me, that doesn't clear up much. Minhas is one of the largest craft breweries in the US, the oldest in the Midwest (formerly Huber brewing Co.), and the second oldest in the country. It's iconic, it's foundational to the Green County economy, and it's steeped in history.

I'm worried if these tariffs keep up, it may also be the end.

Does anybody know what to make of this? Is there anyone who knows more about this stuff than me who could provide some greater insight? It would be greatly appreciated.

Minhas has breweries in Canada. The CEO is saying that Canadians should continue to buy the products that are made at those plants. Us people down south will probably still survive on $13 / 36 packs of Boxer from the Monroe plant (maybe they'll have to bump the price up a buck to compensate)

Looks like that post from the CEO was made on the page for one of their breweries in Canada. Definitely concerning for the Monroe operations.

Minhas is barely a craft brewery; they are a huge contract brewer for off-label and imitation beers. Huber is one of their legacy brands that they may have cheaped out on, not sure. I also suspect they make a lot of alcopops.

I'm sure they have made the correct campaign donations to have secured a plan going forward.

There's another big brewery in Green County, but they're unaffected by the counter-tariffs (although they have probably *not* made the right donations). I suspect they'll also be ok.
