I don't watch animal rescue videos, because of stuff like this. I'm afraid the animals are being abused, just so they can make a video about rescuing them. I don't know which are real and which are fake, so I just ignore them all.

YouTube should not allow this kind of video to be monetized unless associated by a legitimate recognized animal welfare organization.

On a similar note, it's becoming increasingly common for abusive tourist traps and exotic pet owners to use the rescue angle to "humanewash" their exploitation of wildlife. Just about every tiger cub, owl, bear, otter, etc. living in someone's house or backyard is often claimed to be a "rescue", even though in the majority of cases these animals were purchased or bred by the owner and are not being cared for properly.
As a general rule of thumb, if a video shows a wild animal in a home setting or being treated like a pet, or if the person/organization is "rescuing" a lot of very young animals, it's almost certainly not a legitimate rescue. True wildlife sanctuaries do not breed or buy animals, nor do they allow public contact or treat the animals like pets.

This video is like 5-6 months old. Most of those channels mentioned have been shut down, or probably moved under another name.

Good work finding this out. I never really thought about the background of these animal rescue videos. Keep raising awareness. Hope YouTube finally do something

I noticed something was off the very first time seeing these kind of videos. Same animals in most videos.

I'm glad that there is light being shone on these videos, but I wish I didn't know this was happening. That was a tough watch.

So I’ve worked for an animal rescue that has been accused in the past of just watching and not interfering in abuse cases. “If I was there I’d of attacked them.” Good for you, our guy would’ve been shot and we wouldn’t have been able to rescue the animal. Honestly though I’d rather have the accusations than for people like this to get away with these things. Both are abhorrent but I’m glad I know the organization I worked with wasn’t doing this shit. Helps me hope this is a rarity among rescues.

I've long suspected this, after seeing how many turn up on my faecbook feed.

So glad this is catching on. As soon as "rescue" videos from Asia & Africa started appearing, I just knew it was a money making scheme. The ad money these people make must be totally insane.
If the channel doesn't have many detailed videos of facilities, shelters, medical & food supplies, and actual *taking care* of animals instead of entire channel full of feel-good "rescue" videos, then I know for sure it's fake for ad revenue.

Why does YouTube not step up here? If this turns on them it could hurt them financially.

I have pointed this out lots of times to YouTube. I'm a retired vet tech and I used to watch them, then I realized quite a few were complete setups, which sucks because as we know money is what it takes for animal rescue groups to function. I still watch The Dodo, though.
