The reality is there isn't really an actual 'game industry' journalism. Sites like Kotaku aren't journalists, they're not even reporters.
They're editorialists. They write things that make people click through to generate revenue. They KNOW that. So they write the most sensationalist thing they can.
Sure, they act at being journalists. Sites like Kotaku started to fill a niche. I used to like them, but over the years they've jumped the shark.
They went from what seemed like a fairly unbiased look at games to this clusterfuck we have today, which is anything but unbiased. I'm not even sure they believe half of what they write, I'm pretty sure they're just writing it because they know it will twist people up and invoke whatever emotional response they are trying to get out of people. Usually outrage. Because people LOVE to be outraged, especially at things that they want to believe.
So yeah. Fuck Kotaku. Fuck sites LIKE Kotaku. They only exist because they were at the right place at the right time. I haven't been to their site for over a year, perhaps 18 months. I refuse to provide them any support. I hope in time they wither and die. But as long as they're publishing clickbait glitzy articles that rile up the mob...
I doubt they'll be going anywhere.

Your talking about entertainment journalism in general. No different from fox or CNN being clickbait parasites.

SJWs are slowly but surely infecting all gaming sites. I used to really like Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun, but they're both corrupted by SJWs now and have tons of stupid WAHH MISOGYNY posts on a daily basis.

But they represent themselves as such. When convenient, they claim to be press and argue that they are journalists. They claim to follow codes of conduct. Then when they actually need to enforce it, they back off and say that it's up to their judgement, or that they're just a blog and not to be taken seriously.
