/u/anutensil You are a statist of the highest order but I try not to hold that against you because you are unfortunately in good company.
I've always respected you. If /r/politics had more mods like you maybe things would have been different.
I hope one day you will realize that voting will never change anything in this country.
Just like reddit, we can't wait for admins, we have to take action into our own hands.

Fun fact: The Assault on Reason was one of the most influential books to my political development.
Gore was robbed. In an alternate universe I might have ended up much closer to you ideologically.
But 4 terms of bush and the possibility of a 5th destroyed any faith I once had in government.
Faith is all government is. It's just another religion and I hope I didn't offend it too badly with this comment.
I call you a statist in the most loving affectionate way possible (it's really not an insult despite common perception)

Just yesterday, I was going through /r/modtalk & made a point to read two new posts of yours. As usual, it felt good & reassuring knowing that you were still striving, still incessant, still here on reddit. So, your announcement comes as a real shock to me.
It took me a while, in the beginning, to try & figure out from where you were coming, but you never failed to hold my interest &, as time went on, to even open my eyes a bit.
You've been a standout on reddit in your own unique way. A standout who has stood his ground. Thanks to you, I came to understand more about how reddit functions.
You did a good job of shaking the place up, go1dfish. Always with good reason.
I'm going to miss you & what you represented.
