I could apply via Idemia at our local Staples on Monday. How soon do people typically get their Known Traveller Number? I have a flight later this month and wondering if it's worth it to try.

Edit: Thanks for all the input. We're going to Staples tomorrow, and I'll update if we get the numbers before our trip.

The published interval is 3-5 days, but individual cases can take up to 60 days. You have no way of knowing beforehand.

I can only speak from my experience but I got mine in June of 2024. My wife got her ktn in about a week. I got mine in about a month. We applied the same day on back to back appointments at staples too. I say go for it. Worst case, you just show up to the airport a little early. You can also add your ktn at the luggage check in for most airlines too if you cut it really close.

No way to tell, really. So many people are applying for precheck that it’s creating a backlog. Could range from days to months depending on where you fall in the processing.

Took me 48 hours, I applied while on a trip and had my KTN before my flight home.

Depends upon what is in your background, whether your name is similar to other names of people with issues, whether you're born in the US versus naturalized, etc., etc.

I did it that way and had it within 10 days. I also paid extra for them to electronically pull my birth certificate as I forgot it 🤦‍♀️ I also already had a passport. Supposedly that also speeds things up

Mine took a couple weeks, I think. It’s quick but might not make it, slim chance. Likely you’ll be fine though

There's a chance you already have it.

I found out a year after I got my Hazmat endorsement for my commercial driver's license, that I get Pre check for free. I just have to put my driver's license number into the known travel number field with the state abbreviation in front ie NY123456. The same applies for a TWIC card as well I think.

I got my KTN less than 36 hours after my appointment. Maybe it was fast because TSA already had my fingerprints and information on file for FTSP.
