Reading all those recent comments on my posts along the lines of “don’t insert politics into this subreddit!” inspired me to post this reminder that Clarkson, Hammond and May did exactly just that with some of their work over the years on both Top Gear and The Grand Tour. Yes, it is a show about cars, manly bonding, and fun adventures, but they also made political observations and strong opinions as well through the prism of cars and car culture. Obviously, not everyone liked their approach back then either… 😅😂
(That said, I hope the moderators on here haven’t forgotten that aspect to the hosts’ global appeal. Couldn’t help but notice that the newest Clarkson column on self-defense got deleted from here along with May’s “too much flag bunting!” comment on Twitter/X last year.)

I remember a theory saying that the gas station incident was staged because they weren't getting the reactions they wanted. Saying that they just happened to break down just long enough for the red necks to call for back up. I can partially believe it being staged but after living in America and visiting the south, anything's possible.

The location of the gas station is about 150 miles from my hometown. It’s just about as far south as you could go in the state of Alabama. The area has changed rapidly since that was filmed but I could see that having really happened back then 100%.

That gas station is still open; reviews are hilarious.
