I have a SSD from a few years ago that I decided to look at. It has some old photos and videos on it from an old phone of mine.

When I got to transfer the data to my computer, after just a few minutes the external SSD will disconnect.

I've read online that this is a sign that the external SSD is about to fail, is there anyway to successfully recover the data on the drive without corrupting the data?

The external SSD I'm using is a ONN brand.

Difficult to pinpoint exact cause but it is possible that drive itself or the cable/adapter you use has a short circuit and as such - port shuts off. Have you touched drive when it is plugged it? Can you feel that its temperature is rising rapidly before it disconnects? If that is the case (and it is not cable issue) - then I don't think you can do too much to save data because any computer, you will plug it in - either will shut port(s) off or something would get burned.
