Catfish the hostel guy into taking an elicit trip to New York with a fake id and a similar outfit, with the promise of a rendezvous with his internet girlfriend in central park at an arranged time. Hostel guy becomes the focus of a nation wide manhunt and can't reveal himself without his wife discovering the attempted affair and making himself the police's prime suspect.
They *could* be the same person, or a random coincidence, but this version is more interesting.
