It's more than failing a pub test if two ministers didn't think there was anything wrong with calling a driver to a holiday home to ferry them to lunch before the driver returns to Sydney alone.

I once worked for a minister, and I could travel in his car if we were going to a presser or event. If I wasn't going back to the office or his house (we would often get there ourselves to meet him), then we had to find our own way home. We couldn't even get a lift to the bus stop or train station!

Using a ministerial car to drop the kids off at school or go from a work function to a private function? Sure. Use a ministerial car to go to your holiday home for a private lunch? Absolutely fucking not.

I hope this lifts the lid on other MPs doing the wrong thing and puts the fear in others to not contemplate doing it.

This is such a joke but not a surprise, working in government we have to listen to these ministers and dep secs come in and talk about projects and how amazing they are thinking they’ve been instrumental in making them happen. They’re always flanked by an entourage of assistants and media acting like they’re some sort of celebrity, oh and they’re first to eat the catered lunch.. whilst those doing the actual work have to go through various approvals to even book a work car and are usually told to use public transport with pre-approval required to get an opal card

This wasn't just a massive error - it was legal corruption. Guidelines be damned, this was TWO senior elected representatives using a taxpayer-funded vehicle and driver for a day out at the wineries. To say they should have known better is an understatement.

It's not a quick nip somewhere - it was a 446km trip without any official business tacked on.

It's only deserves more than a strong talking to if it's the other team hey Minns?

“Massive error”??

Mate. If you were in opposition you’d be bleating for a resignation. Now that it’s one of your own - and one that’s currently locked in a bitter dispute with the rail workers - oh it’s just a massive error?

Driver's are employed to drive cars not to run errands at all. It cost's a lot more to have a driver on duty for 13 hrs straight than $750, what about his meals. Minister's should never be allowed to use government resources for their personal stuff at all. They earn enough to pay for private use.

Another minister fessed up in defense of her that he uses the driver to run errands to buy milk and pick up laundry, going further to say 'they're being paid anyway.'

That's clear corrupt conduct, which is not jailable.

It's a prerequisite for an ISP director job though.

Unlucky in booze.

She could have just caught a train but maybe she thought there would be a strike on the Australia Day long weekend 😉
