A spectacular public landmark is coming to Watermans Cove, Barangaroo. Pier Pavilion will be a place where people can shelter, meet, gather, and relax by the water, or enjoy a range of temporary, programmed events. Pier Pavilion will be a a triangular shape with curved sides.

Made of **recycled Sydney oyster shells**, the Pavilion references human gathering by the sea. It is designed as a democratic gathering space under a landscape canopy and acts as a meeting place, a site for events, and a memorable part of the city.

Yes =). This is the kind of thing we need more, not hotels or restaurants.

For those who were confused like me, the pavillion is just the structure in the left side of the first pic, with the grassy roof. The thing on the right side of the scaffolding is the existing wharf, about 100m further back.

Other than the phallic eyesore that is the Crown, the development of Barangaroo has been pretty great.

My memory is foggy, which premier/government was responsible for Barangaroo development? Or has it been a joint effort on both sides?
I kinda like what they've done, especially with the metro connecting.
