Hello, I'm celebrating my 70 days without alcohol, life is so much more beautiful sober. I'm 27 years old and I've been drinking since I was 16, I've never drank every day or alone, but alcohol was becoming too big an obsession. I went to parties because I could drink, I no longer did anything in the way of activity if there was no alcohol, and when I started drinking, I didn't stop until the next morning, sometimes I didn't sleep and I continued drinking for 24 hours without sleeping. As soon as I was drinking, nothing else mattered except drinking and partying, because of that I lost jobs, because I was partying too much the night before, I lost romantic relationships, I hurt (morally) friends, I put myself in danger and I even almost committed suicide. I was never in denial, I always knew I had a problem with alcohol, but the fact that I managed to keep drinking only occasionally kept me in society. People don't understand that you can have a problem with alcohol without drinking every day, many are in denial, for them an alcoholic is necessarily homeless with a bottle of beer in his hand all day. Alcoholism begins as soon as you begin to be in conflict with your own drinking and it brings you problems. You, like me, know how complicated alcohol is to eradicate from our lives, because it is so present everywhere and integrated into society. Good luck to all of you in your quest to be able to live your life to the fullest and be happy. Alcohol managed to kill my mom almost 10 years ago but it won't get me, and I hope it won't get you either. To you who read me and who fight against death I send you all my support, you are not alone. Good evening.

70 days is great, loved your post. Sure wish I had decided to quit at age 27, not 63. Proud of you, keep going. IWNDWYT

That's great to hear. I was also once like you, then I progressively drank more. It got to the point I was drinking every day and then every day at home alone because it was most cost-effective.. I was the only one left at the party. Total isolation and drunk every waking moment.
If you never drink again you will never have to face that reality. It wasn't fun. At all.
