Hey hey all you fantastic people!!! It's Shape Up Sunday where we talk about what we're doing to get in shape! My shape is a little more circular than I'd like it to be but, hey, it's a process, right? And I'm not adding on a bunch of empty calories from booze, so...WIN!
This week, I'd like to talk about what we're putting in our face holes!!
What's working for you, what's not? Tips, challenges, RECIPES are all welcome!!
I'm back on my whole foods kick, nothing processed. As close to farm to fork as I can get. It's SO hard and at first I hated it, but I've done it before and I felt better than I ever have, it just takes a while to get started and actually enjoying it. Tonight I had a ginormous spring mix salad with lentils. And for dessert I made a strawberry smoothie. Not going to lie, I wanted the cookies my daughter had hidden in the pantry but I resisted.....and I'm happy about that....no I'm not....yes I am....grrrr.

I eat a lot of baked chicken and I love a good burger or 3. I don’t eat sweets. Lots of coffee in the morning and watermelon seltzer water throughout the day. IWNDWYT

Chicken thighs are really tasty. I use a general chipotle knock off recipe to marinade them. I also make cilantro lime rice and use different types of veggies.
I also really like ground turkey as it is cheap and easy to make. I just add a ton of garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. And typically pair it with russet or sweet potatoes.

Been doing a lot of chicken thighs or ground beef and just making a rice bowl with steamed veg. Easy and hits the macros.
Frozen fruit with Greek yogurt is a go to also, and eggs. Even if they’re expensive. I love eggs. And with alcohol savings it’s more than enough lol
Washing it down with any seltzer, kombucha, the random chocolate milk… and NA Guinness is my favorite right now by far

Finally off the ice cream kick. However, my husband does make variations of oatmeal cookies every couple of weeks. Oatmeal is healthy, right?

I gave up sweets for Lent. I developed a really bad sweet tooth when stopping 6 weeks ago. Four days of denying myself the sugar and I didn’t crave it tonight finally. I am still always hungry so I’ve got to reel in the calories but I’m eating a bit better, no junk food and taking some vitamins I feel I’m deficient in. Have been taking my dog to the dog park lately and walking around the perimeter of it. That helps with the mood which has been low.

Daily fasting. No food till 4pm. I shed 85 lbs doing this about 5 years ago. Kept all of it off till I started drinking again 9 months ago. Put 25 back on since then

I'm working on exercise and diet, and a nutritionist through my doctor to take a hard look at what I eat. They want me to track everything I eat for a while, which is a pain. But actually...really interesting after a week or so. I'm using a great free app to help me which I won't say here so I don't sound like a shill. (If you want to know the name of it, ask me, happy to share. Just don't want to get in trouble with the mods) There are other food trackers out there that are probably better but I chose the free one cuz I'm a cheap ass. Anyway, trying to move more and be smart about what I eat. Also...IWNDWYT!

It’s baby steps for me right now. Working on cooking at home instead of ordering DoorDash all the time. With lunch yesterday my partner and I had smoothies and used up a bunch of fruit that was about to go bad. Then last night we didnt really have much around the house to eat but I had a big ol bag of frozen broccoli so I made cheddar broccoli soup. With a bunch of spinach hidden in it too lol. This already feels so much better than eating fast food constantly, my gut is thanking me.
