Guess my sobriety has basically started for me.i was putting away a fifth a night basically for the past 5 or 6 years. Last week I was sick with influenza for a week, stopped drinking for first time basically, no withdrawls surprisingly. If i did i confused it for the flu.

Then i drank one day finally after feeling better, next day was in the hospital because of abdomen pain and pissin/shitting blood. After many tests turns out my liver is struggling and have fatty liver disease.. for now. So I guess I start my health journey here. Just wish I did it before it got this bad.

Be kind to your body... it won't be kind to you forever.

I feel for you.  Fatty liver disease can be worked on though from what I understand.

I've drank myself into acute liver failure once.  4, day medically induced coma with alt ast at 1000.  I'm lucky to be alive.  But I never had jauncide ascites etc.  nothing but just withdrawals even while drinking.

I pray I can always find a reason to never go back again.

Hold on to your resolve. Fatty liver is serous but it is reversible if caught and worked on early enough. I was diagnosed 10 years ago, blood work was high, I was told I also had sever fibrosis. So I stopped drinking for about a year. In the end my Dr. took a biopsy and said the liver stiffness was normal for someone my age. Well what do you think the mind did with that information? Went back to old ways. Ten years later I’m struggling to quit again and work on trying to stabilize my health situation. I wish you well in your journey and pray that you are wiser than myself.

You should be proud of yourself for taking this as a sign to stop and for actually following through!

You can do this! It'll take time to overcome but it's definitely possible! Just stay consistent - that's the key, especially on days you don't feel like it!

I wish you all the best on your journey!
