Maybe someone has the answer to this one. Found out the north side braums has been cash only and inside orders only for the better part of a week and a sunshine location was also cash only today. The last time I saw a business doing this the cicis on battlefield shut its doors for over a year and there was a bunch of court stuff for unpaid rent ans embezzlement.
The computers where not being used at n. Kansas and all orders where being written down, no tax charged.
I'm under the impression that card readers have an offline mode by default so lack of internet shouldn't be the end all.

They were hacked a few days ago, if you search 'braums cash only', it's all over the place.

Braum's got hacked. They're doing cash only in Oklahoma as well.

Nothing really to add, but our Braums 45 minutes from Springfield has the same thing going on.

It’s a nationwide outage for many days now.

I was in last night, and went directly to the restroom. On the way there, a young employee and I exchanged "good evenings," then he prodeeded to say, "as I sit here and wonder, I wonder if the service outage has affected the work phones because they haven't been ringing as much." I agreed and said "probably," and walked into the bathroom. When I finished and walked out, we made eye contact and I nodded and said "goodnight," but he acted like he had never seen me before.
It was, itself, a weird interaction, and even more since I didn't even know anything about the cash only stuff because I had just gotten in there.

At least they know how to operate without technology. I went to a Burger King last year, and they told me they couldn't take orders because their system was down, I explained "no problem, I have cash". The employee gave me a puzzled look and repeated "our systems are down though..." They didn't know how to add up an order with a calculator or on pen and paper!
If we ever get hit with a major internet outage, there are going to be a lot of people who forget how to function.
