I love playing Grixis midrange, so much so that I just picked it up in paper. While the deck has certainly lost its spot on top of the meta over the past few weeks, I would be seriously surprised if it isn't still viable with the release of the new set. What cards have you tested or are excited to test in Grixis over the next few weeks?
Here's some to get us started:
[[Halo Forager]] I am personally really excited about this card. The big issue with [[Arcane Proxy]] was that the 2/1 statline just doesn't trade well in this format. Halo Forager meets the important threshold of three power while also having evasion and adding card advantage. I have tested the card a bit before release and was definitely impressed. It is similar to [[Wandering Mind]] insofar as it comes down for three and gives you a card, but you can play this without whiffing and get stats that can actually trade with your opponent's 3/3's.
[[Lithomantic Barrage]] Grixis' worst matchup is mono blue tempo, and Lithomanatic Barrage gives us a cheap answer to their creatures that can't be countered (this includes the ward ability). While mono blue can still give their Terrors phasing or hexproof, we don't have to fight over mana as much when we have a one mana answer from the sideboard.
[[Pile On]] While this was a bit awkward in testing for the mainboard, I could see this replacing [[Soul Transfer]] as an instant speed answer to both creatures and planeswalkers. The instant speed means we can tap a token eot to reduce this to three, two tokens to reduce this to two, etc. It doesn't exile, though, so it doesn't work against Ao.
What other cards are you interested in trying out in Grixis Midrange?

While not necessarily for a midrange shell (though it certainly can be), the [[Hidetsugu and Kairi]] + [[Explosive Singularity]] is the most exciting thing Grixis got coming from MOM. It's hard to resist an easy 20 damage to face, and just from pre-release content there's a lot of different ways to build it.
For strictly the midrange archetype we're used to, [[Volcanic Spite]] and [[Nahiri's Warcrafting]] are surely worth a test. For the lists that were running Bladecoil Serpent, I'm curious if [[Sheoldred]] will be better for 1 less mana (though the transform might be conflicting with Corpse Appraiser). Lastly, this may be a little "win more" but [[Chandra, Hope's Beacon]] doesn't seem too unreasonable as a 1-of, especially if you're already running Invokes.
Halo Forager just seems such a far cry from Snapcaster Mage that the idea of it just doesn't sound appealing to me for Grixis. I do think Lithomantic Barrage is a decent sideboard card though, and Pile On will probably see play here as well.

It might not be dead, but invoke despair is gonna quickly become an enormous liability due to surge of salvation.
I'm interested in Chandra, sheoldred, backup archpriest, breach, see double, fairie mastermind, omen hawker, hidetsugu... Frankly there's tonnes of options in the new set and I'm not sure what grixis will look like or if it will keep up with other colours.
I think W or W/X is gonna be terrifying.

To me, [[Halo Forager]] and [[Chandra, hope's beacon]] are the only two things I'm looking for in the main deck. Chandra"s static might win a grindy matchup on its own. Halo Forager is [[corpse appraiser]] 5-6, it just feels nice. I've been playing 1 of [[Phyrexian arena]] and loving it, it's a lock with [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]]. forager might be even better because it doesn't need much setup and it's a body that can end the game on its own.
