Our squad building and transfer business over the last 24 months has been wank, way too much focus on potential over ability and vastly over paying for that potential. Not to mention our obsession with wingers, 5 right wingers signed in the last 6 months.
9th most expensive squad in the league and 17th in the world and it just doesn't look like it. We've had bad injuries but even when you look past that it's not been good enough.
Maybe and hopefully Hürzeler brings it all together but I just don't understand the rationale behind a lot of our moves these days.

I love a bit of City slander as much as the next guy but the state of this sub when a Pep looking mildly sad and scratching his head sits at 10k upvotes.

Football clubs using *is* instead of *are*. As in,
“Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Marcus Rashford.”
And even if it’s technically correct, I don’t care.

That Partey goal thread was a bit of a mess wasnt it? Loads of people making the same tired, obvious, and tasteless sexual assault joke. It’s a serious matter, not an open mic night or an excuse to get one over Arsenal fans.

Streams have absolutely deteriorated, I might actually shell out the £50 or whatever it is for sky and TNT- the only goal I watched yesterday that didn’t buffer and then cut to the celebrations was Haaland’s

I thought I would finally have nothing to moan about this week, and then I went into the Instagram comments and forgot now we have to deal with weeks of “Please give Partey a new contract and stop disrespecting him!!”. Back to him being consistently praised on all the socials

If we play like we did last saturday we will stay in the league.
If we play like we did against St. Pauli last week we will go down.
And I have no idea which side of us will turn up next weekend.

Boringly interested if the US/Canada/Mexico tariff war extends to the world cup in 2026 and starts stricter border regulations, we need to see fans stuck being divested of their Big Gulps and/or Tim Hortons (delete as appropriate) while they travel to watch Qatar vs. Australia in the round of 32

Ref chat last week was ridiculous. Truly deranged. People "no. But"ing regarding the ref getting death threats. Insane. Calmed down now that arsenal won ofc.
Also i dont like how chummy the pundits are nowadays. They're not that funny. Micah Richards is actually quite funny imo given that he'll laugh at himself (something the overly proud pundits normally wont do) but the whole "brest" joke made me cringe. Carragher actually has good insight as well but hes in the wrong setting.

Being a Hertha fan right now is really fun:
1. We have a €40 million loan coming due in November which we will most likely have to refinance meaning we will HAVE to sell our best players AND our financial situation won't improve all that much.
2. 5 players are on expiring contracts including both of our right backs.
3. The trainer we paid €500,000 for will most likely be fired in summer.
Now we have to trust the people who put together this squad and paid for Fiel to find 6-8 new players + a new trainer.
Fun times!

Genuinely wish Marcus Rashford all the best at Villa. Watched the kid's entire career unfolding before my eyes. Sad how it turned out to be.

Difficult to really complain about the club in any meaningful way - since Louie Barry was recalled by Villa (the thing that had seemingly every other fan of a League One club insisting we'd fall off and finish in the bottom half) we've won four of our last five league games and made a very decent fist of a cup game against Crystal Palace in a slightly tweaked 352, inverting the front three to have a 10 and two strikers.
The moan as such is our transfer activity. We had all our loanees recalled for a combination of being mint (Barry) and being underused (Adaramola, Mellon, Onyango), and we've loaned out one of our very few CBs to Peterborough. In terms of incomings, we've brought in an Icelandic striker we were very careful to brief that would be joining our development squad initially (despite a couple of cameo appearances), and Micah Hamilton on loan. That is it.
We have very little quality depth and I find it difficult to believe that the window has gone entirely to plan with so few additions in positions we were already thin in.

We're going to come out of a transfer window weaker than we went in, again.

Sunday was a shit show. Our squad is just so unbalanced in midfield and right back. Without Rodri and in form Walker there's just so much space.

It feels impossible to have an actual conversation around Arsenal, even the most benign of topics, without attracting a million weirdos on both sides these days. I’ve not seen anything like it in a long time

German football fans can actually come together to oppose the far right and nazis.
Whereas in England you go to the stadium of any club across England and you see “On the Charge with Farage” and “Free Tommy Robinson” stickers plastered everywhere. I’ve even seen one in Norwich (one of the few places the lefist Green party historically get a lot of votes).
How so many working class people in this country believe refugees are the cause of all their problems and not 13 years of conservative rule is beyond me.

Pozzos have always been chaotic, but they've sucked the energy out of the club, and blown any vague chances of a playoff push. They need to demonstrate some level of competence or else it'll be a relegation battle next season.

Arsenal reacting the way they did to the Clty equaliser yesterday just puts into perspective how much of a nothing performance Chelsea gave last week.
It was almost like the team was afraid to press the advantage once it had been gifted to them.

Where do I even start? Our defence is dogs hit, all our best players get injured and we're doing nothing to address it. Manager after manager has come through the door, been promised funds to build a squad and hasn't got them. We can't buy much needed reinforcements now because we spent 20 mil in Oliver fucking Skipp (not a bad player by any means but 20 fucking mil?). We're paying stupid wages to players who couldn't give less of a fuck about the team and just want to move on to their next payday. And to top it all off, we shipped 4 to Everton. I just can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Don't really buy into the whole referees conspiracy thing. Only thing that does annoy me is how they don't help themselves in terms of PR. Was listening to a podcast, think it was about a month ago making this point.
Like, I think Oliver going to ref games in Abu Dhabi are wherever is *probably* above board. Moreso my issue is why as the PGMOL would you allow such a blunder in terms of optics where the question can be asked in the first place.
And then, how with certain decisions, you have TV shows like ref watch, where the objective is primarily to stand the refs corner unless it is 100 percent unpalatable.
Not that rampant conspiracies would dissappear or anything. They never will, but I'll bet it'd be alot less if they made a cocnerted effort to operate in a more outwardly honest(?)looking way (for lack of better phrasing)
