I started drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning, and somehow it led to better hydration, improved energy, and even fewer headaches. Never thought something so simple would make such a difference.
What’s a tiny change you made that had a surprisingly big impact?

Every morning I write a to do list and give the tasks a number from 1 to N. This the order I will complete tasks.
My days are super productive now that I don't have to spend time wondering to do next.
I have been doing this for over a year.

Changed work direct deposit to put a portion in a separate high yield savings account directly on pay day, and set up auto pay for everything else. No missed bill payments and savings grows without ever thinking about it. Took maybe an hour once to set it all up

In short, Fixing a crooked smile throughout the day
The story. It was a simple observation last November. A crooked smile, more so, a droopy resting face on one side. I had showed my mom what I had noticed and she said it had looked like I had a stroke, the muscles on the face seemed unstimulated, whereas the other face had more definition. You could see a lifetime long smirk hidden in the resting face. I was not liking it. So I would do face exercises, curling lips, and even smiling with the goal of evening out the face. I think I pulled out my phone and used the grid likes to get even stretches. Sounds like a lot but Promise you, it would take like 1-5 minutes, the muscles get tired and I’d just repeat the next day. This became a small habit I’d do around the day until a few weeks ago, I’ve seen the face corrected, my smile got more full, and since I’ve got in the habit of “correcting” in public (slightly mindfully smiling evenly), people have approached me, smiled at me, been inviting. My confidence shot all the way up. What once was a small tick for a few months developed into a habit of smiling. My days have been so much brighter since, I think I even see the world differently, like “I can just choose to smile”
It’s truly changed my life, sometimes I catch myself smiling for the sake of smiling

Incorporating 10-30 mins of yoga into my daily routine. It has made a massive difference in how I feel mentally and physically.

Starting my day by going for a walk. I have to get up a little earlier, but I feel more alert and focused when I start work and I find I sleep better.

I enjoy playing the board game of Go. It is so simple and so brutal at the same time. Not sure I recommend it but it certainly is simple and impacts my life. Plus the patterns the game produces are very elegant.

Using a sunrise alarm clock, I have never been a morning person and winter is especially hard on me with all the darkness. I just wake up happier with the gradual light increases and almost always am awake before the alarm goes off.

Not by choice, but Type 2 diabetes. I'm in the habit of mindful eating. I've since changed my eating habits: cut out booze, sugar, heavily processed carbs. I've lost 36 pounds from diet alone. Now I'm working in no sugar added ice cream as a reward and pasta that has lupini beans as a source of fiber and protein. My alcohol consumption is now only in significant moderation. I wouldn't say I was a glutton but definitely lived to eat, not eat to live. I appreciate food that I used to have frequently, so much more now when I splurge. I don't feel like I'm missing out and now I'm "technically" no longer type 2 diabetic as my a1c is under 6.5.

I’m gonna be wild and say being on ozempic/semaglutide. I don’t keep junk food in my home or sodas. I cook at home. But I’m 42 and have a health issue with heat stroke susceptibility. So June to October are way to hot for me. It’s my winter. Now I eat 2 meals a day and finally feel satiated. Using join Mochi currently good experience.
Also doing art on my remarkable tablet. It’s got no apps no frills. It allows me to draw my “garbage” test art or sketchbook applications and not waste expensive paper or supplies. Also don’t have to worry about setting up art supplies

I pay myself to do things I don't want to do. It goes into a "rewards" savings account and I can buy anything I want with it.
Not huge amounts. Just enough to be an incentive. So like £10 to replace the silicone sealant in the shower, £20 to paint the skirting boards. Things like that.
I also recently started paying myself £5 to get out of bed earlier on my non working days, as I like a lie-in a little too much. It's actually really helped.
I'm basically clicker training myself 😂

Building a morning routine that is separate from work.
Need to shower, eat, exercise, AND relax before starting work. Makes it feel like im jot just waking up to go to work.

Wi-Fi enabled light bulbs. I realize that this doesn't qualify as a habit, but it's a small thing that has greatly simplified things. I found an app (Smart Life) that controls the light bulbs from my phone. In the app, I set up timers to turn on/off the lights at specific times, and also when I arrive or leave my home. I never arrive to a dark house.

I started keeping my phone out of reach during meals. It's helped me be more present and enjoy my food without distractions.
