Been on a journey toward simpler living lately, and wow, it's been refreshing. I started by cutting out unnecessary digital noise and focusing more on the basics like connecting with people in real-time, cooking meals from scratch, and enjoying walks outside. It’s crazy how much more fulfilling life feels when you focus on the little things that actually matter.
Anyone else embracing simple living? What’s your favorite small change that’s made a big impact on your day-to-day life? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I look at menus from high end restaurants. When I find something that sounds good, I look for those recipes. I’ve upped my cooking game, but also learned what dishes are worth spending money on to have someone else cook it for me. So I enjoy a restaurant meal more now because I’m being more selective about when and where I go.

I stopped caring about decorating. It was interesting because interior design has always been a passion. But it just started feeling like yet another way people compare and judge themselves and others. I went from enjoying a “what’s out in 2020” video to getting crazy annoyed by the implication that I need to replace my furniture and fixtures every freaking year or else I will be *gasp* **outdated!!**
I enjoy the lack of clutter now, and I love when someone walks in my home and asks “did you just move in??” It’s a shelter and storage space. It doesn’t need to be ✨aesthetic✨and it doesn’t need to convey my personality to the outside world.

My favorite thing would be spending time with loved ones. You don’t realize how lucky you are to be able to pick up the phone and call the person/people you care about. When i’m bored I’ll call my grandma and take a walk, when i’m sad I’ll lay with my boyfriend, even though I have divorced parents we have a group chat we talk in almost daily. Life can be hard. Find your people, nurture them, practice gratitude. The small moments make great memories. 💕

I think learning to appreciate imperfection (as in, Japanese Wabi Sabi) has really helped me so much. I began to appreciate that there is nothing “perfect” in life. There is only the way I perceive and react to the world around me.

Work from home has changed my life immeasurably. I am separated enough from work to avoid my propensity for workaholism. And I have more time for basic living things like cooking food from scratch.

This is going to sound awful but….
Divorcing my very high-maintenance, materialistic, demanding, and mean husband. I can do things like have a sandwich for dinner, I get to sleep when I want, and all that good stuff.

I stopped reading catalogs that came in the mail. I gave up shopping for lent about five years ago, so I wanted to reduce temptation. You can't crave what you don't see. I was raised in a very materialistic home, so this was a revelation to me.

I cut all visual content (videos) from my life. I haven't watched TV (national channels and cable TV) since 2006 but I still consumed the occasionally series or movie on streaming platforms. Since 2022 I stopped all visual content and replaced it with written (reading the news, reading articles, books, and audio content, like podcast and audiobooks).
This has been incredible freeing, I've always felt that consuming visual information is quite aggressive and most of the time manipulative, It makes me feel like there is a part of my critical thinking that does not engage during visual information, that I'm just there for the ride. I feel more in control now with what I chose to read and hear.

Yes to all you wrote!! Especially eliminating digital noise. That’s been the biggest impact of all. For me slowing down and lessening screen time and scrolling I do more hobbies and try to get out in nature. Not consuming as much media has had the most drastic change. The world is so much quieter and I’m not riddled with doom and gloom or comparisons. I can focus on embracing and loving the life I have been given with more presence.

Would add noise in general, caring less about what other people think (I thought I was good at this... but probably only appearance related, now on a deeper level)

Stopped caring about what people think about my house/car/whatever. That's not to say I'm a slob or have a house that's falling apart or messy. Just that idea of "I have to work harder on interior decor/renovation in case we have people over!" Next move on this train of thought is to simplify my landscaping to a minimalist/low maintenance setup (sick of spreading 10+ yards of mulch).

I like eating raw foods. I believe that god put us here on a planet with foods that are created for us in perfect form. I also have never had more energy and stamina than i do on raw foods!
It seems so logical yet a very few seem to have the courage to try it out :D they already dismissed It before trying It.
I cannot recommend It enough though

I love to decompress on my backyard deck with my dog. Just to chillax under blue skies and nature is so refreshing.
