Basically title, trying to plan a trip to camp and kayak for a few days and grill! Ideally within 2-3 hours of a drive.
Hot showers are basically my only requirement (if the spot is cool enough I can forget about that though!)

Ink's Lake State Park[1] is a favorite of mine. Constant level lake and lots of campsites varying distances from the water, a boat ramp, and lots of granite to scramble on

Garner state Park is beautiful. Especially in summer / fall. has kayaking, grills and hot showers. But water levels for kayaking can be low at times. River is dammed tho so there s at least that area to paddle around. But tougher for longer stretches. Always call ahead to check water levels. Garner does get fully booked in the busy season. So gotta book months in advance if ur trying to stay the night. Day passes also get sold out in peak season.

Inks lake would be my first choice, second choice Guadalupe River SP. Inks lake has spots on the lake where you could launch from your camp site. Guadalupe does not.
Two of the previous mentioned parks, Palmetto and Garner have construction and improvement project currently underway so check that out before making reservations.
Also, state park reservations fill up fast so book asap! Many Texas counties in the area are under a burn ban as well. Good luck and have a blast!

Check out Colorado bend, not too far from where you’re at, and you can usually kayak in either direction on the river.
