Folks still wave Irish flags around for various reasons, have tattoos of the Italian flag, etc. we’re an immigrant nation, it’s okay to be proud of where you’re from (should be okay, at least.)

I see your point, why wave a Mexican flag in this protest, we’re all supposed to be going all American all the time here, I guess.

I think, these protesters are drawing a line through their personal identity to their new home. It’s fucking complicated, I don’t think waving the Mexican flag does them many favors either, but I can see why it’s happening. This is a complicated nation to live in.

Also just want to add, I have fed so many ducks so many Oscars breadsticks at that pond in my youth, it’s crazy to see something of significance happen there.

Of all places a display of racial pride is bad optics, this is it. Perfect footage for Fox News to spread division between Americans and what they will call "Non Americans". Completely counterproductive and will just increase support for ICE.

If I’m trying to get people to see my point of view I try to find a way to connect. This “in your face” type of activism scares whitey.
