I have to admit, I’m impressed by the speed in which this was implemented by RVA.
Should we have already had this before 2025, yes, but let’s give this administration some credit for recognizing the need and finding a solution in less than a month.

The reason it was so quickly implemented is because the system already existed and was used by state agencies for years.

For as much as I also complain about city services, as someone who live in the county, and works (hangs out, and exercises) in the city, comparing the experience of the city compared to that of my parents who preached in shockoe bottom and church hill in the 90s, its night and day. Comparatively, the city is doing wonderfully, how much you chalk that up to city leaders and which ones is your choice.
It has its hiccups, but as someone who’s *walked* from hermitage road to forest hill, from shockoe to Scott’s addition, and from azalea to the capital trail, this city is a lot safer and doing a lot better than what it once was

That's good to hear!
I know a lot of local governments in the Commonwealth use the same CodeRed system this new one replaces, but they seem to be rarely used, some have really old alerts on there, and it seems like residents don't fully understand how it's supposed to work.
