In support of the new content policy that we announced today[1], content from quarantined[2] subreddits will only be available to authenticated users who have opted-in to view that content on reddit.com.

The opt-in is per subreddit, per user, and is currently only accessible by visiting the quarantined subreddit on reddit.com. Only users who are logged-in and have a verified email address[3] will be able to opt-in.

How can someone opt-in for everything quarantined globally? First, opting in per subreddit is tedious and next to impossible to maintain as new subreddits are created and possibly quarantined.

Does this mean that requests to /api/info for specific comments will be blocked unless the authenticated user has opted in?

There has to be an option to globally opt-in -- I'm not really a fan of having to opt-in at all because this is borderline censorship.

/u/spez -- this is really going to affect people interested in raw analytics for Reddit.

This is really annoying that it's only returning `error: 404` and not something like `error: "quarantined"`.

And an endpoint to disable quarantine for that sub or globally could really, really help.

Will Quarantined status be reflected in the /r/subreddit/about.json info in any way? The subreddit_type is still listed as Public.

This comment has been overwritten by an open source script to protect this user's privacy, and to help prevent doxxing and harassment by toxic communities like ShitRedditSays.

If you would also like to protect yourself, add the Chrome extension TamperMonkey[1], or the Firefox extension GreaseMonkey[2] and add this open source script[3].

Then simply click on your username on Reddit, go to the comments tab, scroll down as far as possibe (hint:use RES[4]), and hit the new OVERWRITE button at the top.

What if I don't want to give reddit my email?

Why can't it just be a button click?

This site is really starting to suck because of shit like this.

Naturally, SRS/SJW bots will opt-in so they can't miss out on finding people to harass.

Would be nice to see it exclude such operation - where information derived from a quarantined sub could not be used beyond the quarantine.

When can we expect /quarantine to become an oauth endpoint? I'm trying to figure it out but I keep getting redirected to my frontpage. Am I doing it wrong?

That's bullshit, I don't like reddit on my desktop, I like how baconreader lays it out... It needs to be available via the api

oooOOOooo... *so that's how they're quarantined.*

reddit.com is basically unaffect as "authenticating"/opt-in is pretty much identical to visiting any nsfw thread-

it's *all the apps* that will be blocking new user flow...

huh... interesting...

For the sake of our bots not being restricted, will there be API for a user to opt in? Like, so you can opt in from apps / scripts?
