I thought "there is no way it's NFTs right? It will be no different than buying skin packs on a game right? RIGHT?" and wow, was I wrong.

I've warned people about their plans to introduce their own NFT's and Etherium based crypto currency since last year.

Community Points currently exist on a testnet version of the Ethereum blockchain, which uses similar technology to Bitcoin to validate ownership and control of tokens based on who holds them.

I'm just waiting for the day they restrict access to the API and shut down old.reddit so that you're forced to use the official mobile app and the redesigned website.

Oh my fucking god, the admins have been sneaking blockchain tech into reddit since last year?! I genuinely cannot believe shit like this is being jumpstarted in the background with us being told. I don't give a toss even if it's just two communities, shit like this should be told to us ages in advance.
