I agree that it seems like this is setup for the artists but the only reason they added Blockchain is for the NFT hype. Just as all the NFT "games" promised you'd take your items to other games without even building a single game Reddit is saying you can bring your avatars to other sites without any other sites actually supported. Which means it's no different than saying "you can post this picture on other sites" except with extra steps and relying on a side chain that may or may not exist next year.
