View submission: What we’re working on this year

The mobile Reddit app drains phone batteries really fast and makes phones get hot. Please fix that along with the video player.

The “official” app is garbage. The Apollo app is great.

Same! I wonder if the app drains battery more on iOS or more on Android...

Viewing old.reddit.com on a mobile browser solves this problem.

What phone do you have? I have not had a single problem with the official app. My 3-4 year old iphone 7 handles it well and I can get around 1 hour of scrolling for 15-20% of the battery

I might have a different definition of draining the battery but 5 hours of scrollinh with a 3-4 year old battery is not bad

The day it started doing that to my phone was like the same day they somehow managed to make the app even less intuitive and the video player even worse. I instantly uninstalled the Reddit app and I’m never going to use it again for the rest of my life.

If Apollo or other 3rd party viewers get removed then I’ll just quit Reddit.
